I am committed to providing a safe, ethical, and trusted space for people to heal, grow, and explore their well-being. Guided by professional standards, therapeutic knowledge and creativity, I aim to empower people on their journey toward healing by facilitating long-term processing and emotional regulation, and fostering trust, learning, and emotional resilience.

Shona Young
Art Therapist/Counsellor

I’m a qualified psychotherapist, registered with the IACP, with a BA in Integrative Counselling and Art Therapy, a BA in Psychology, and an MA in Forensic and Legal Psychology. Over the years, my work has taken me from corporate environments to working with both victims and perpetrators of violent crime, as well as supporting people experiencing trauma, depression, suicide, anxiety, and more in a variety of settings. These experiences have given me a grounded understanding of the many ways trauma and emotional challenges can impact people’s lives, bodies, and behaviours.

I specialise in trauma (particularly trauma rooted in violence) and in anxiety, and I hold additional training in suicide intervention and resilience in those exposed to trauma, disaster, and war. I work exclusively with adults, providing a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental space where every client can explore what they’re carrying at their own pace. My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from different therapeutic methods depending on what you need most, because I believe therapy should adapt to you, not the other way around.

A central part of my practice is art therapy. Creativity allows us to explore and express things that words alone can’t reach. In therapy, art is never about creating something “good”, it’s about the process. Through colours, images, and textures, many of my clients find a language for feelings or experiences they’ve struggled to put into words. Art-making can help regulate the nervous system, bring clarity to complex emotions, and even reconnect you with parts of yourself that have felt hidden or silenced. For many, weaving creativity into therapy opens new pathways of understanding and healing.

Non-judgement is the cornerstone of my practice. I see my role as walking alongside you, not dictating or analysing, but supporting you as you explore your own inner world. I’m also fluent in Irish and welcome clients who wish to explore therapy through their native language.

Whether you’re struggling with trauma, anxiety, or simply feeling stuck, I’m here to walk alongside you as you begin to make sense of what you’re carrying. If you’re ready to take that first step, I’d love to support you.
